Kami came to live with foster mom Amanda after spending a year on the streets. The pup desperately needed someone willing to love her despite her emotional and physical distress. And Amanda was willing to give Kami her all!
The pup wouldn’t allow Amanda near her, making the dog’s recovery more challenging. While the pup needed medication and ointment on her skin, she, above all, needed to trust humans again. Fortunately, Amanda was not giving up on the dog who needed her most.
Kami was thankfully driven by food and ate from Amanda’s hand. This was definitely progress! Soon, Amanda was able to spread coconut oil on Kami’s skin. Being able to touch her made the foster mom’s “heart explode.” As Kami’s trust grew, Amanda was able to interact with her more.
The dog’s progress continued to amaze Amanda. She even began to play with toys! The foster mom knew it was time to introduce Kami to her Lab, and the dogs hit it off instantly. Next, it was time to introduce the tenacious pup to the rest of the pack, and she fit in perfectly.
